BAUS,

I talked to Nigel this morning. He maintains his position that the -275 was a bad line when he hanged it, that your bet was cancelled a few minutes after acceptance and you were informed via email.

He also said that he noticed that it was a bad line cause other books were at -320/-330. I argued that I recall Pinnacle having -275 on Monday morning (you wagered on Sunday) but he has no recollection of that.

He also invoked the bad line rule as posted on their Web site.

In my opinion it was not a bad line. Given that Nigel will not change his mind on this very issue I have downgraded WWTS.

Jessica is a very likeable and cooperative person but unfortunately may not help in your case.

He preferred to be downgraded rather than agree that he was wrong in the face of obvious facts and unanimous opinion? That's unbelievable.

Well done downgrading WWTS Roberto. I didn't think you would do that.

Be aware that this response from WWTS and subsequent downgrade may in fact benefit WWTS in their way of thinking.  It sends a message that if you are scalping, you may be stuck with holding a side you now have to PAY to get off.  And guys, this type of thinking isn't exactly new...  Look back to Vegas when the corporations and accountants took over the management of most sports books, looking at floor space production as criteria for policy change (an extremely narrow minded focus which undoubtedly has cost Vegas in this way - based on the revenue from gaming and non gaming shifting greatly to the latter - but this may be what they want).  Many of these same organizations, which may have formerly been very fine bookmaking stores are now being steered, at least in part, by the "corporate" mechanism.  In general, corporations do not take chances.  And the line between corporate bookmaking (if we can call it bookmaking) and real bookmaking is getting thicker and thicker.

As long as we have the free flow of information in mediums such as the internet and the general human population doesn't go (or is forced to become) brain-dead, I place my money on the latter - real bookmakers - as the ones who emerge as victorious in this war between philosophies.

Thanks (Tahoe) for the plug...   We're on the same side on this one.

Ahhh, so, noting this new development...

https://towforum.com/default.aspx?f=5&m=13856

Perhaps WWTS has other intentions after all.  Good move.

a.)  It never should have happened

b.)  the response should have been - "Yes, we showed a lack of judgement originally, our error and we will honor the bet."

c.)  and now that they have been placed under a TRUE microscope (as true as can be found in the unregulated world), they see the light.

Evereyone is entitled to a mistake here or there as long as we make it right.  WWTS has made it right.  Now, can they maintain this proper form?

It will depend on their perceived gain from making the right move and I am betting they perceive it positively.

Just to elaborate on what TOW had to say earlier in this thread:

I made the wager in the evening of Friday September 2nd. It is true that Nigel cancelled it within 10 minutes, and it is true that he also emailed me after he did cancel it.

After I noticed my balance wasn't right, I called in to WWTS where I was transferred to Nigel and he told me he cancelled it because it was a bad line or humar error or something....he told me he emailed me about it. So after I hung up, I checked my email and basically decided to move on.

I don't recall exactly what other books had at that exact moment, but it wasn't very far off from -275. 4-5 days later, CRIS had -300 up, and that was after a little bit of steam had pushed it there, so that is what prompted me to post about this issue. I thought "How could -275 be a bad line when CRIS is hanging -300 4 days later?"

Anyway, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it certainly is frustrating.

Thanks again TOW for the help and hard work, and thanks to Nigel for doing the right thing.

BAUS, can you say how much the win amount was for?  or at least give a range?

I don't think it's proper for me to say, but it was a significant sum. A 4 figure win amount.
