Before people dismiss this post because I'm a "newbie," let me introduce myself.  I am Ronald, former Bet2Gamble.com renegade and poster at the RX.  I was the one who broke the Fourtyplus.com scam.  I was also the President of Dindons Against NeoMax, which was a group that exposed the rogue "Casino NeoMax" online casino (note: I resigned as President and handed it over to the now expired Dizzy).  I have a lot of experience in the online world and its dealings.

I have an account at Oasis Sportsbook.  I took advantage of their 25% reload promotion several weeks ago.  I was in the process of meeting requirements when they closed my account, deducted my bonus and charged "fees" to my account as well.  I had earned 80% of the bonus from meeting requirements, yet they removed the entire $250 bonus, plus fees.  I was disgusted and baffled, since my balance at the time of account closure was actually LESS than what I began with!  So I had actually lost money there.  I phoned "Bucky" at OASIS and asked him to explain it to me.  He told me the following:

1) They don't like Canadians.
2) He suspects that I am part of some kind of sportsbook "syndicate."  Of course, I am not.
3) He said that I'm hitting "soft lines," despite the fact that I am a net loser there.
4) He refused to give me any part of the earned bonus because I'm a "Syndicate Canadian scammer"
5) He demanded to know who the leader of my syndicate was.  When I told him that he was talking nonsense he then accused ME of being the leader!
6) He told me I was "lucky" to get paid the remaining balance in my account, minus the bonus and "fees"
7) He told me that it was improper behavior to hit lines at Oasis that are "soft"
8) He said that on a number of occasions I placed sharp bets while he was taking a dump in the bathroom (this is not a joke!).  Because he was defecating at the time, he was unable to adjust the lines.  Somehow he thinks I knew he was dropping a Number 2 and decided to take that opportunity to hit his lines.
9) He also said it was "sharp" of me to make overnight bets.  Their overnight limits are only $250, and I only made ONE overnight wager, which I LOST!!!!
10) He then hung up on me.

TOW, I know you specialize in providing assistance to gamblers in this situation, but I am not asking for any.  For a nominal amount of $250, it's not worth it.  I simply wanted to share this experience with the TOW members.  Please spread the word about this rogue book.  I would also like to hear if anyone else (especially Canadians) has had similar experiences.

2) BS from Oasis
3) Just because your scalps lost at Oasis doesn't mean that they make a profit on the game
4) BS from Oasis
5) LMFAO!!!

No point in commenting on the rest of the points. You should have contacted the arbitration panel here at TOW... based on your post I am quite sure what the decision would have been.

If the excuse from Oasis is indeed the syndicate BS, I have no doubt what my vote will be. As I told Roberto before joining the board, whenever the syndicate excuse came up, my vote would always be for the player.

Typical behavior from this book. They offer promos, then take them away.

Perhaps TOW should consider lowering their rating...

I am also considering tossing my Oasis T-shirt in the trash...I don't want to be spotted at the grocery store supporting this welfare outfit.

Oasis is due for a downgrade, and a pretty steep one, should they not be able to provide some coherent explanation to the behaviour ronald described.

after speaking with a representative from oasis, their position is that they will only deal with the player in this matter. ronald can contact nicole or wilson to try to resolve this.

i have always held a strong opinion that offshore books should be willing to cooperate with the forums and give the players any pertinent info in regards to a situation like this. that being said, with the lack of response from oasis, i would say their rating should be downgraded to a 5, which would put them in our "high risk" category until such a time as they decide to be more cooperative, and they learn that when you boot a player, you pay him on the way out the door.....

9/19/2005 Oasis downgraded from 7 to 4 due to unjustified bonus confiscation
3.40 pm EDT Further to a player's detailed post at TOW Forum about a bonus confiscation complaint against Oasis, the book confirms its wrong decision, and unwillingness to amend it thru mediation, to a TOW representative. TheOffshoreWire does not condone such unjustified and unsupported behaviours against players. In view of the foregoing Oasis has been downgraded from 7 to 4. Players shall be warned that Oasis may confiscate their bonuses and close their accounts at their discretion without adeguate explanation or justification.

They get a 4 because they "usually" keep their word? We are talking about a couple of hundred bucks here. What if someone sent them serious money? Shouldn't a 1 be about right for a shop that is so obviously corrupt.

I think that if what he says is true, and that he indeed is/was 'President of Dindons Against NeoMax' freaked  ... then I've got to tell you, kosar ... I'd probably have to side with the book on this one.  After all, what chance does the book have if they're up against the Dindons Against NeoMax ?

On a more serious note, I always get a kick out of the 'syndicate' excuse.

There are some book managers that just pull the word 'syndicate' out of the hat, to use as a 'catch-all' excuse.  They're almost always wrong, but at least they realize that they're wrong and that it's just a convenient lie to use.

But I also KNOW there are others that actually believe that they are being bet into by a syndicate ... these are the stupid people.  These guys will leave a line hanging that's a 5 or 10 cent scalp versus Pinnacle, then 5 or 10 guys hit the line one after the other, and these guys automatically think 'syndicate'.  Well, duh, it's not a syndicate hitting your stale line ... it's 8 or 9 unrelated scalpers, combined with 1 or 2 value bettors, hitting the line at the same time.  What the hell do they think will happen when they hang a line that's 5 / 10 cents scalpable ? Do they think they're going to receive balanced action on that line ?  Not bloody likely.

coolguy,

they consider themselves a shop for recreational gamblers only. if they feel a player is a professional gambler (even if they are wrong) then they confiscate the bonus money...
