TSN to Air NHL Games in HD This Season

In its ongoing commitment to High Definition, TSN today announced an unprecedented initiative to produce and televise a record 27 of its 71 nationally televised NHL regular season games this year in High Definition on TSN HD, becoming the only Canadian broadcaster to air games in wide-screen HD format during the 2005-06 season.

TSN's dedication to hockey in High Definition is strengthened by the fact that to-date, there has been only a handful of NHL games televised in HD by a Canadian network.

TSN's NHL HD coverage gets underway on opening night (October 5) with a doubleheader, as two of the network's four scheduled games are available in High Definition.

This year, TSN is in the midst of a broadcast schedule featuring 900 hours of HD programming from more than 300 national and international events, reinforcing the network's position as Canada's Sports Leader in High Definition. In addition to 27 NHL games, TSN has HD broadcasts for its coverage of the CFL (25 games), Toronto Blue Jays (26), NASCAR (21), NBA (26), NFL (25), IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship (minimum of 12), and more.

TSN HD is available on Bell ExpressVu channel 850, Rogers Digital Cable channels 407/503, Cogeco Cable channel 278, Videotron channel 660, Access Communications channel 506, and Southern Ontario-based Mountain Cable channel 641.

TSN is Canada's Sports Leader. Setting the Canadian sports broadcasting standard, TSN's flagship news program, SportsCentre, was voted the number-one source for sports news by sports fans from across the country. TSN's comprehensive broadcast schedule also includes the NHL, Toronto Maple Leafs and international hockey, the Olympic Games, CFL, NFL, PGA TOUR and all four golf Majors, NASCAR, Formula One, Champ Car and IRL auto racing, Blue Jays baseball, NBA, tennis, soccer, figure skating and amateur sports action.
