Plays for:
Wed August 24

Dogs Formula:
YTD Performance:
+ 4.72 units (based on 1 unit per play)

Yesterday's Recap:
(-) 1.23 units (based on 1 unit per play)

American League:
--Chicago lost as Santana lucks out again. Fred Garcia had a no hitter in the 8th inning, and the Sox lost on 1 hit - a home run. Another tough loss versus Santana, undoubtedly baseball's most overrated, lucky pitcher.

--Detroit won

National League:
--St. Louis lost
--Atlanta was the dog at game time at Wagerline and they lost
--Milwaukee won
--Houston was the dog at game time at Wagerline and they lost
--San Francisco lost
--Mets won

Dogs Formula

See below for our line grading policy. It will explain how we are coming up with our official plays each day and how we are grading our official plays. Or re-read the "Dogs Line Policy" email that was sent out.

Notes:

With the exception of San Francisco, all of our losses on Tuesday were on some of baseball's best teams - St. Louis, Chicago, Houston, and Atlanta. Three of those four teams are divisional leaders. Two have the best records in their respective leagues.

The White Sox are folding like a house of cards, losing 8 of their last 9 games. If the season started today, Cleveland might win that division, rather than Chicago. When a pitcher (Garcia) throws a one-hitter and you lose, then you know your offense is struggling. Shame on them for blowing such a masterful outing by Garcia. They should all take him out to dinner.

Final Line Grading Policy for Marginal Dogs:

In the event that the play changes from the overnight newsletter, the closing line at Wagerline.com will be used to grade the game:
http://www.wagerline.com/mlb.asp

The exception to this is if Wagerline mistakenly posts no line for the game (NL) or when Wagerline mistakenly posts the game twice. In such cases, Pinnacle's closing line will be used as an emergency backup source.

When we refer to "Pinnacle's closing line," we're referring to the posted closing line at theRx.com for the line from Pinnacle sportsbook that is that webpage.

Here's where you will find those emergency backup closing lines:

Check out the underdog lines at Bowmans.com and Pinnacle to improve your results.

American League:

- no plays -

National League:

ATLANTA +154 @ Chicago, 2:20PM...Hampton and Thomson have both been dog meat since their latest return from injury. That is both unexpected and troublesome news for Atlanta. They cannot afford to lose here today with Philadelphia closing the gap on them.
ATL: M. Hampton (5-3, 3.50)
CHC: M. Prior (9-4, 3.66)

HOUSTON +97 @ San Diego, 10PM...Official play will be on San Diego if they are the game time dog at Wagerline. Otherwise, play remains on Houston.

Both pitchers have horrendous ERAs. Amazingly, Chan Ho Park beat Atlanta in Atlanta last weekend...San Diego has only lost once this year to Atlanta.

Astros still cannot seem to find a way to start winning on the road, and given their disappointing last couple series at home, they might be sitting at home watching the playoffs after all.
HOU: E. Astacio (2-6, 6.21)
SD: C. Park (2-1, 8.38)

Philadelphia @ SAN FRANCSICO +98, 10:15PM...Hennessy dern near beat Chris Carpenter in St. Louis last weekend. The task is much easier with Lidle. But the Giants have been so inconsistent as a dog, and so bad at home this year. Take nothing for granted with this year's Giants team.
PHI: C. Lidle (9-10, 4.64)
SF: B. Hennessey (4-5, 5.09)
