TOW expressed skepticism on Mansion's business model, however some significant changes have occured since. How do players rate Mansion today ?

They are great. I would say B - and I hope/think that they in a few years will be an A-rated book!

A to A+. Great lines, some of the highest limits, customer service people speak perfect english, and their payouts are among the fastest offshore. They rank just below Pinnacle in my opinion. They need more active players and they need to have been in business for a longer time to rank alongside Pinnacle.

Anyone, TOW, care to elaborate on those significant changes you say that have occurred?? And not something about that the total wagers at Mansion now exceed those at Pinnacle or some similar April fool thing :-)

Seems to me that they have tightened up a lot, they are no longer giving away the house, at least from what I hear around the forums

Personally I am going to give it some time before I play there and see how things pan out

You are right Drunkguy... Mansion are now the ones moving the lines.

edit: of course I don't know what the reason is. Either they are getting hit first or they are sharp.

I imagine they are taking a lot of sharp action away from pinnacle, their lines may be taking the early hit

Yeah, that's probably the reason. At least something has changed the past month...

slash,

do you think Mansion has overall improved its content management ( sharper lines ) ?

Ciao Roberto,

For my opinion yes absolutely. They started get more sharp around mid of february and this "sharpery" has increased since now, on both the sportsbook and the exchange. But i think, sooner or layer they will have to move the odds ( like Pinny ) and not always the line ( example -2 -111, +2 +101 ).

Bye

TOW,

I don't really know if their lines are sharp, but what I know is that if Mansion decides to move the line on a game, every book follows suit...

Not sure I'm in full agreement with this.  I still think that Mansion plays off of Pinnacle's lines most of the time.

Although Mansion may be the first to move the "number" sometimes, usually they're moving their number based on the "juice" that Pinnacle has on their own number.  For example, if Pinnacle moves to Over 200 -114, Under 200 +104, then Mansion may move their number to 200.5 or 201 ... so although Mansion moves their "number" first, they're still moving it based on the Pinnacle "lean".

I will be very interested to see how they handle baseball this year

Posted By : slash - 4/4/2005 5:17 AM
Halifax, I think more often than not lately, Mansion moves the number without basing it on the "Pinnacle lean"...

I just checked baseball at Mansion some minutes ago (around 4 AM eastern). Mansion has full limits right now and 10 cent lines. Hard not to be a bit amazed.

They are giving a "Bet $100 get $100" for new accounts (roughly - depends on currency and it is $96/96 right now)

check under promotions

I actually think Pinnacle's new order form is a direct result from the added competition Mansion has brought on.

Would love to grade Mansion A+ but they just haven't been around long enough to justify it.

what is this "wager order form" that Pinnacle provides to it players? Just went by to see it, but did not fully understand how it is different from their normal procedure.

you can put in the price you want, and if it becomes available your wager is placed. Keeps you from having to keep checking the lines waiting for a move.

gave them a shot with their "50 free" promotion (actually ends up being 96 USD free).

Software is different from any book I have played with before, takes a little bit to get used to. Sometimes takes a little longer to load than I would like, seems like the software is maybe a little more complex than it needs to be

Volume on the exchanges is very good, and you can find some good prices. You can usually get $1000 down on the "best price", but have seen over $10,000 available at times

Sportsbook lines were OK, still finding the best prices elsewhere on a lot of games though.

Would like to see some more in the way of lines offered, seems just like the "basic" bets are being carried right now. No 1st halves, quarters, halftimes or props, some futures available.

Customer service was great so far, very responsive. I sent the email about cashing in my promotion Thursday night at 2AM Eastern, and got a response within a half hour. Have been back-and-forth with them a few times since, always very professional and rapid response time.

Not sure what their plans for the exchange are. It is still "no fee", I guess they are using it to balance action by playing it themselves. But doesn't seem to be adding anything to their bottom line.

Overall, a good experience and the book has some promise. I still think they are being way over-hyped for a new and unproven operation, but if they can stick around for a few years, could become one of the big players in the industry.

The Offshore Wire has updated Mansion's rating from 3 to 7.
