While ESB aka Telebet firmly holds the first place of the worst sportsbook ever, which sportsbook would you rate as the worst of 2004 based on your experience ?
This thread is focused on books in operation, not the ones that tanked in 2004.....................

BBD,
Betpanam doesn't count cause they tanked...my question is about sportsbooks who are still in operation..... |

we should be focusing on the bad ones of 2005 right now and not worry about the bad ones from 2004.

TOW,
One of my friends was so stupid to play at MyBookie. He didn't place many bets because he was travelling a lot. He was of course a phone only customer... one day he decided to phone in a bet. He was quoted the line and wanted to risk his full balance. He was put on hold and told to wait. The agent came back and told that he could only have some amount at -110. My friend then asked if he could have the rest at a worse price.
Again he was put on hold. The agent came back: Ok, you can have your full amount on -120. Of course my friend said no way. He only wanted to place the original bet at -110 then. On hold again... some manager came back and told him that they didn't want his action and his account was closed.
If that doesn't qualify for worst sportsbook of 2004, I don't know.
Furthermore, even though he wanted to be paid NETeller they sent him a FEDex check (which was 2 weeks underway...)
Of course I only have his side of the story, but I know he is telling me the truth. |

Slash,
Mybookie has a very tight risk management in place. I know for a fact they do profile allegedly sharp or wise action and they deal dual lines for those customers. As far as payout promptness goes your friend is not the only one that has raised a complaint about it....this is the primary reason that lead me to remove Mybookie from TOW endorsed list of book..... |

TOW,
They may have all the risk management stuff they want. In my opinion it's simply not right to quote a customer a line over the phone, then changing it and then not even allowing him to get down on his original bet.
By the way, wasn't it in 2004 that Dimeplayer tried to pull their scam too??? If that's so, they will overtake MyBookie's place as my vote for the worst sportsbook of 2004. |

Dan- This is much more common than you would think. Many books, especially in Vegas, will give you a max at one line and then if you want more at a worse line and will keep going this way.

Yes, I had that happen here. If the game wasnt close to starting, I would of made a trip down the street to place another bet.
